Welcome to Piscataquis County! The officers and members of the Piscataquis County United Bikers of
Maine are glad you took the time to take a look at what we are doing to promote safe riding practices, sensible legislation,
and to promote motorcycle awareness in a positive way!
Good news for the motorcyclists of Maine.
The helmet bill is DEAD.
The House of Representatives voted on April 9 to
accept the Transportation committee majority report. The majority report was 'Ought Not to Pass'. The vote was 123 Yea, 21
Nay and 7 abstentions. The Senate voted on April 10 to accept the majority report. The vote was 26 Yea, 8 Nay and 1 abstention.
The latest effort to mandate helmets for adults in the state of Maine has failed. The motorcyclists of Maine still have the
freedom to choose when or if they should wear a helmet. A big thank you to the Transportation committee members and all other
legislators in the House and Senate who sided with freedom and adults taking responsibility for their own safety. Also a big
thank you to the members who took the time to contact their legislators and express their opinions on the bill.
